How To Make Your Home Smell Like Fall
Ah FALL is FINALLY here! It is seriously my favorite time of the year. Okay, well ALMOST favorite time. My absolute favorite is like the day after Thanksgiving, when I turn everything around me into something Christmassy. There will be a lot more on the blog soon for Christmas. For now, though, it is time to enjoy the fall.
Pumpkin patches, apple picking, Halloween, Thanksgiving, tons of baking and making stews and soups as the weather gets cooler. I can’t get enough of it. As with every change of season my favorite thing to do is to get the smell of the season throughout my home. And my NUMBER 1 way to do this is by using essential oils. If you still haven’t tried using any, you can check out this post to learn more on how to get started. Some of the blends I talk about below are made with only oil blends you can find at Young Living. That is because I feel like they are the BEST oils around. I have tried many brands thought-out the years and nothing comes close to these. They also happen to carry my favorite oil blend of all time, Thieves. This scent is 100% fall and Christmas vibes. Bonus, you can even get cleaning products that smell like this, so there is always the holiday vibe in your home.
If you are still not into the oils, do not worry, I also included two of my all-time favorite stove top potpourri recipes! I have found that I can keep these recipes in the pot for a maximum of three days. Just keep adding some water and simmer, so you really get a lot of use out of each recipe! Just be sure to remember to turn that stove off before bed!
Okay, on to the Diffuser Blends first. The number before each oil is the number of drops needed. You can always add more or less of a scent depending on what you enjoy more of! There really is no wrong here, this is to get you started! A lot of these can easily be used for Christmas too, but I will have another post in a few weeks for that! Stay Tuned!
3 Orange + 2 Cinnamon Bark + 1 -2 Clove (Depending on How Strong of Clove Scent You Can Handle)
3 Bergamot + 2 Stress Away + 2 Orange
4 Thieves + 2 Orange + 1 Nutmeg
3 Orange + 2 Frankincense + 2 Cinnamon Bark
2 Cinnamon + 2 Idaho Balsam Fir + 2 Thieves
3 Thieves + 2 Lemon + 2 Orange
4 Thieves + 3 Orange
4 Northern Lights Black Spruce + 2 Thieves
3 Thieves + 3 Christmas Spirit
3 Thieves 3 + 2 Citrus Fresh
Stove Top Autumn Scent
This is perfect for Fall and Christmas. The recipe I use is per 3 quarts of water. So if you were to use a 6 quart pot you want to double the ingredients. Again, as with the diffuser blends with cloves, some people are more sensitive to this scent, so gauge what the right amount is for you and your family!
1 Orange Sliced
1 Cinnamon Stick
1 Tbsp Cloves
(Per 3 Quart)
Apple Pie Stove Top Potpourri
**measurements below are for a 3 quart pot. You can also read the full blog post here.
2 Cups Water
1 Cups Apple Juice (this is great if you have extra apple juice your kids haven’t finished just use here!)
1 Orange, squeeze juice into pot, then add the remaining orange ( i found that by juicing it brings out more of the smell than just putting the orange in the pot, you can also zest first!)
1 apple- cut into chunks
1/2 Tablespoon Vanilla
1 Tablespoon Clove (whole)
1 Tablespoon Pumpkin Pie Spice
2 Cinnamon Sticks
